People supported by Cope Foundation, their families and the organisation’s staff are gearing up for the full return of the Echo Women’s Mini Marathon, which takes place on Sunday the 18th of September.
It’s the 41st year of the event which ran in virtual form over the last two years. Entrants also have the option of taking part virtually once again or joining thousands of women at the start line in Centre Park Road.
Cope Foundation is one of Ireland’s largest disability organisations and supports over 2,800 children and adults with an intellectual disability and/or autism. The funds raised during the Echo Women’s Mini Marathon will go towards projects and programmes that empower and support people across Cork city and county.
Aoife is a staff member at Cope Foundation, she said, “I can’t wait to take part in this year’s Echo Women’s Mini Marathon. The last time I did it was a couple of years ago and we’re going to come back with a bang this year! I think it’s nice to come together and have that community spirit after the difficult two years we’ve been through. It will be great to shine a light for Cope Foundation again.”
Erika is supported by Cope Foundation and is excited to be taking on the challenge, she said, “This is my first year taking part in the Echo Women’s Mini Marathon. I can’t wait to get involved! I’m going to do the race with my friends and staff from Cope Foundation’s Ballyvolane Community Hub. I’m doing loads of preparation so I’ll be able to run and walk the race on the big day. I’ll be doing lots of walking and exercising until Sunday the 18th September!”
Cope Foundation is encouraging people of all abilities to take part in the event and join #TeamCope. If you would like to join Cope Foundation’s team for the Echo Women’s Mini Marathon please visit https://www.cope-foundation.ie
