The Marketing Institute Ireland (MII), Cork branch is revving up the DeLorian as they prepare to escort Cork’s business and marketing community back to the era of electronic music, yuppies, and big hair, with this year’s ‘Back to the 80’s’ Ball!
Blasting off at 6pm on Saturday March 9th at Vienna Woods Hotel, Cork, attendees are encouraged to dress to impress in their finest black-tie attire with an optional stylish 80s twist.
MII Cork Ball Chair, Leigh Gillen of Leigh Gillen Events, promises that it will be a night of glamour, great music, and good vibes, all while having the opportunity to network and raise funds for an extremely worthy Cork based charity, Cork Cancer Care Centre.
The evening will begin with a complimentary Disaronno and Kylie Prosecco drinks reception (compliments of the super rad drinks partner, Barry & Fitzwilliam) to the backdrop of the wicked Colm O’Sullivan spinning the hottest tracks, capturing the essence of the era. The Cork’s RedFM DJ will then commence his MC duties, as guests enjoy a sumptuous four-course feast with wine.
The highlight of the night is set to be the live floor filling music from the iconic Spring Break- Europe’s premier good time supergroup, who will also close out the night with a DJ set.
Those who have attended the MII Cork Ball before, will know that one of the biggest bonuses of the night is the infamous goody bag (worth over €200), and yes, you’ve guessed it, there will be one for everyone in the audience again this year. Not only that, but those who are generous enough to take part in the charity raffle, are in with a chance of winning some incredible prizes.
Cork Cancer Care Centre is this year’s chosen charity and Leigh and her team are hoping to beat last year’s raffle total of €7,500 to help the people of Cork.
Speaking in advance of the ball, Leigh Gillen, Leigh Gillen Events, and MII Cork Ball Chair said, “We cannot wait to go Back to the 80s on March 9th at the MII Cork Ball 2024. The committee have been pulling out all the stops to ensure our goody bag and raffle are better than ever, and our entertainment this year is second to none.
The MII Ball is a celebration of the Cork business community, and we can’t think of any better way to celebrate that, than with the ultimate party decade. We would love for the Cork businesses to join us, to celebrate our achievements together, all the while raising funds for the incredible work by Cork Cancer Care Centre, our chosen charity.”
Cork Cancer Care Centre, based on Paul Street, Cork, provide services such as counselling, a range of complimentary therapies (such as Reiki, Reflexology, access bars, Integrated Energy Therapy, Indian Head Massage, Lymphatic Drainage) and a drop-in centre during the day for all people affected by cancer.
Linda Goggin James, CEO, Cork Cancer Care Centre continued “Cork Cancer Care Centre is thrilled to be the chosen charity for MII Cork’s 2024 Ball. Facing cancer is one of the scariest things we will go through – for both the patient, and their loved ones. Our goal is to create a safe space for them by providing information, therapies, and support groups. The funds raised by the raffle at the MII Cork Ball will go directly towards supporting the work we do in our centre – a ‘home away from home,’ for many during their darkest time. We have been privy to some of the prizes, and there are brilliant ones up for grabs”.
Leigh concluded that “Such a spectacular occasion takes several months of preparation and planning by key personnel on the MII Cork Committee and I would really like to thank them all for rowing in behind me this year. It would also be remiss of me not to thank our ever-generous sponsors for this year’s Back to the 80’s Ball; Johnson and Perrot Motor Group (car sponsor), B2B Print and B2B Signs (design & print partner), Cork’s RedFM (radio partner), Barry & Fitzwilliam (drinks sponsor), Hopkins Communications (PR & communications partner), GM Media Solutions (video sponsor), Peter P. Photograph (photography sponsor) and the Clayton Cork City (accommodation sponsor).
